Anglo Nubian Goat Society

The Anglo-Nubian is a large breed of goat known for its high butterfat content in milk and prized by producers of fine cheese. Developed in Britain from excellent milking stock and crossed with goats from the Middle East and North Africa, the roman nose, amazing colours and pendulous ears make the breed instantly recognisable.

About The Breed

Did you know a group of goats is often called a trip. With their fantastic cloven hooves well-suited to grip rocky surfaces as they climb, it is unlikely you’ll ever see one tripping though. Baby goats are called kids. Females are called does. A domestic male is sometimes called a billy and a female a nanny.

Nubians are remarkable in being able to deal with temperatures as low as −18 °C and do just aswell in very hot, dry areas. They tame very easily with their owners and make loving pets. In fact, Nubians love human interaction so much, they will call for and follow their owner anywhere. The Nubian’s large size makes it a very useful dual purpose animal.
